Academic Invitational Meets and Tournaments

Rather than going to the district meet without any formal experience in a contest, most high school students attend invitational or practice meets in their local area. While the UIL does not govern such meets, most host schools abide by UIL rules.

For schools that host an Invitational Meet, UIL prepares two sets of high school tests (Set A and Set B) that may be purchased for use during dates listed on the UIL calendar. Schools planning to host meets on dates other than these will need to order tests from other sources. Invitational materials are not for individual use or to be used solely as study materials. They will only be sold to schools hosting invitational meets.

This is our 14th annual UIL Set B Invitational known for GREAT competition. We have separate sections of awards for 1A - 4A and 5A - 6A. We are offering all UIL Academic events including the speech/debate events and Computer Science programming. We will use UIL Set B materials and ASW for spelling. Please join us for the Best of Texas Contest and compete with students from across the state! The online contest consists of your choice of twelve subjects— Accounting, Biology, Calculator, Chemistry, Computer Science, Copy Editing, Current Issues, Literary Criticism, Mathematics, Number Sense, Social Studies, and Spelling. You may choose to enter any or all twelve subjects. Choose just the subjects you wish! There will be three rounds of tests, Rounds 1, 2, and 3, each lasting a full month with extra time at the beginning of the next month to enter scores. Your entry will include all three rounds. You may enter as many students as you wish in each contest you enter. Compete virtually with other students from across the state of Texas. View real-time scores of your competitors as they are entered. Best of Texas provides a valuable source of materials for your students for UIL practice without the travel. Students will be awarded certificates for placing in their classification, as well as in their grade level.
